Challenge!!

Hello, beautiful people!

So, who's up for a blog challenge?

We've come up with one for you: The You Are Beautiful challenge. What is it? Let me explain.

We know y'all are beautiful, BUT, we don't know is what makes you beautiful. We want you do a blog post telling us why you're beautiful! You can do a vlog (video blog), a list of reasons why, a poem, a short story, a picture, just a normal post, WHATEVER! Just let us know why you're beautiful! When you do this, be sure to link it back to us, and invite your readers to do the challenge, too. Feel free to tag people if you wish! With any luck, this can spread all over the blogsphere, inspiring girls and women everywhere.

Some guidelines for doing the challenge:
-Remember that beauty isn't only on the outside. Sure, you can include outer features in this, but inner beauty is what really counts.
-Don't be afraid of bragging!
-Make it as creative as possible!
-Have fun with it!
-If you do this challenge, be sure to leave a link to your post in a comment.  We would love to see what you guys do!

Love Yourself!

So I know there are so many things that make girls feel insecure and make them feel as if they are flawed and need to change. (I know because I am one of these girls that is very insecure). Something that I used to be insecure about was my weight. I used to think I was super overweight and "fat", when in reality, I really wasn't. I was at a great weight, but for years it made me feel super self-conscious. I don't feel insecure about that anymore, but I know of alot of other girls that are. Some girls who think they are "fat" or just aren't happy with their weight go much farther than just dissing on themselves. They even go to the point of becoming anorexic or bulimic. Sometimes this even results in suicide..... But you are great! So maybe your not a size -1 (if they make that size)? You are still beautiful because your you! Wonderful and beautiful in your own unique way!
So go and look at yourself in the mirror and don't think of everything you want to change, but think of at least ten things that make you beautiful! Is it your smile? Your super happy personality? Your sense of style? Whatever it is, it makes you beautiful in your own unique way!

Sharing the Smiles

So I know that a lot of you have felt inspired by this blog (or at least I hope you have), and you can also make others feel beautiful too. One thing that makes people feel good about themselves is when someone gives them a compliment, or when they smile. So on Monday, I'm going to try and give 10 compliments! Hopefully, I will also make them smile (: yay for inspiration!

Bathroom Mirror Notes!

So as you may know, the main part of Operation Beautiful is posting random inspirational notes in public places that say things like "Smile, you are beautiful!" or "Hey Beautiful! You look gorgeous today!"
Katelynn and I post a lot of notes on the bathroom mirrors at school.  I thought I'd post a few that I put up today:

I thought the note shaped like an A was pretty cool :) I was just going through my sticky note collection and I found those and got the idea for that one!

Makeup Free Monday?

It seems like the girls on TV, in movies, or in magazines; are perfect. They aren't though. They cover up their inner beauty and their true selves with makeup. The video below is what a real model does before she goes to a photo shoot. So what if one day a week we didn't wear any makeup and showed everyone that we have real beauty? We don't need makeup because we are awesome and amazing in every way! I really hope you notice that the girl in the video was pretty before and after she had makeup on, and I'm sure that you are too.

A Little About Addie

Hey, I'm Addie!  I'm not very good at writing these "little bit about yourself" things, because I always feel so weird writing about myself!  I guess I'll just try my best here... Okay, well I love to do anything that lets me use my creativity... Playing guitar, doing crafts, cooking, writing (except about myself!).

I'm a super-happy person, and I look at the world with a "half-full" attitude.  A lot of people call me an optimist... I love to help other people, no matter how big or how small the problem may be.  All of those things are probably the reason I love the idea of Operation Beautiful so much!  I believe a lot of people are way more beautiful than they give themselves credit for, and need to stop the negative thoughts!  I hope with this site we can inspire others and help change the world :) So don't forget...

A Little About Katelynn

Well what can I say, I ride horses, have a lot of great friends, just love all the simple things in life, and have a very low self esteem.
In middle school, I was bullied a lot. I was convinced that I wasn't pretty, wasn't good at anything, and didn't have any worth. I was almost embarrassed of myself and I wouldn't even want to talk to people because I thought is was my fault I got bullied and I should just avoid them. That's when I changed schools and I met Addie. She showed me a website called www.operationbeautiful.com. I was so excited! This website told me that I was worth something. I started putting up inspirational notes in the bathroom and I wanted to do more. So that's how this blog got started. Hope you like it!

A Little About Something Beautiful

Something Beautiful (short for You Are Something Beautiful) is inspired Operation Beautiful.  We set up this site in hopes of changing the way high school girls think about their looks... Because, the truth is, every girl is beautiful, but too many of them can't see it.  Even if others/themselves say they aren't, they really are.  Beauty is so much more than what's on the outside!  With this blog, we hope that we can help and inspire others to let them know that they are amazing, beautiful, and perfect, no matter what they/others say!
